Times > Technology > Internet Access, Delivered From Above - WiMax and Towerstream in NYC

The New York Times > Technology > Internet Access, Delivered From Above
A good overview of fixed wireless access provided by TowerStream. Service now available in NYC but it is way expensive for anything other than business use. Fixed rooftop antennas are a must. The article makes mention of mobile WiMax for laptops as a future technology and indicates that the WiMax forum has yet to adopt standards for mobile applications.

Yahoo! News - Blinkx Unveils Smarter Desktop Search

10x10 / 100 Words and Pictures that Define the Time / by Jonathan J. Harris

10x10 / 100 Words and Pictures that Define the Time / by Jonathan J. Harris
Interesting concept. Worth a look. Basically, it is 100 pictures (and associated words) that are the most active in Internet RSS feeds at a moment in time. The pics are in a 10x10 matrix and it you mouse over it, the associated keyword is highlighted. Clicking on it provides a link to the RSS news story that goes with the picture.

Worth checking out and keeping an eye on if this catches on.
