LookSmart's Furl - Your Personal Web

LookSmart's Furl - Your Personal Web
I have just signed up to start using Furl.net. This is a great way to manage all those sites you come across while surfing the Net where you want to follow up on something, try out a product or service when you have more time, tell a friend about something that will interest them, etc...

Furl puts a toolbar on your browser (IE) or just a bookmark (Firefox, or if you just prefer "no more toolbars"). When you come across a site of interest you "Furl It" with the browser button or by clicking on the bookmark. A pop up window then lets you categorize the site, rate it, email it to someone and it adds it to your Furl history, where you can later search it by keyword, date, and other ways.

Furl also shows you a list of Today's Popular Items which lets you set what sites Furl users are "Furling" currently. This is a good way to see what's new and hot on the Web before you get that 2 day late email that is going around from a friend that says "... you gotta see this!". Been there, done that!

For those with Blogs and websites, you can paste code into your site that lets visitors to your site see a daily or running list of the sites that you have Furled. I will try this out with my Blogs and/or website in the near future.

Of course, the real benefit of this is for users of multiple computers. My workday Furls can later be looked at when I get home and have more time just by reviewing my history at the website. Furl means File url in case you were curious.
